grogram

HINT: No, it doesn't mean 'slow memory chips'.

A coarse stuff made of silk and mohair, or of coarse silk.

The term 'grog', meaning a mixture of spirit and water not sweetened, comes from the nickname Old Grog given to Admiral Vernon due to his wearing a grogram cloak in foul weather. Admiral Vernon is said to have been the first to dilute the rum of the sailors (about 1745).

And, of course, the term 'groggy' means overcome with grog.
